Plan the Perfect Party - Putting It All Together

Planning An Event?..A Wedding?...an Anniversary?...an Office Party or Conference?  Find help here....

All those details to consider:  which caterer should I select?  Should I use a community hall or go to a hotel?  How does the bar work and how much liquor do I need?  How do I choose a florist, a photographer a DJ or live entertainer?  It can seem overwhelming.

Most people are afraid of, or at least intimidated by the prospect of throwing a party. This is unnecessary. Unfortunately, others who have thrown parties may reinforce it (who hasn't heard a few disaster wedding stories?).   This misinformation can lead to the belief that successful entertaining is both overwhelming and terrifying. This information package arms you with the knowledge required to anticipate potentially problematic situations and provides guidelines to help ensure success in your efforts to organize the perfect party or event.

Unlike other resources on event planning, it does not address matters of etiquette or details pertaining to invitation design or table settings. I leave these to your discretion and good taste. Instead, it walks you through the nuts and bolts of party organizing and event planning; details either omitted or sketchily outlined in other sources. It offers advice and provides information many people never consider. It examines frequently encountered dilemmas, and details solutions to those potential problems. It is designed to empower the prospective party giver  or event planner; to educate so as to ensure outstanding results from intelligent spending.

Because many parties exist outside the confines of the home, I have explored these scenarios in some detail; providing information as to what to look for and what to look out for when utilizing any component of our multi-faceted service industry. In the end however I return to your kitchen, where some of the best parties find their origins. Whether your goal is to create the perfect dinner party, cater to the needs of greater numbers at a hall or merely to supplement a caterer’s efforts, the advice and guidelines I offer in both sections are designed to promote the very realistic understanding that “Yes! It can be done!”.

The secret is to start small. Start in the shallow end and learn a few strokes before diving headfirst into the deep end. The series of small successes in combination with the gradual acquisition of more specific skills will lead you to the realization that throwing a party -- no matter how large the scale -- can be a lot of fun!
